Kings JV Squad Sweeps Anderson Redskins with 29-24 Victory

The Knights defeated the Anderson Redskins Friday evening for the second time this season. The Knight’s scoring leader against Anderson was, once again, Max Lerer (Sophomore) with 10 points. The majority of Lerer’s points were made down the stretch with the Knights clinging to a slight lead in the game. Other notable scoring contributions came from Josh Woody (Freshman) 7 points; Austin Copeland (Sophomore) 4 points; and Ryan Anthony (Sophomore) 3 points.The Men’s JV team now stands with an FAVC record of 11-4 and overall record of 12-5. Next up for the Knights, at home Tuesday evening, are the Milford Eagles.

JV Suffers Tough Loss to Walnut Hills Eagles

Max Lerer’s (Sophomore) 13 points weren’t enough to secure a victory against the Walnut Hills Eagles this past Tuesday. The Eagles defeated the Knights for the second time this season — final score Walnut Hills 30, Kings 27. Other Knights scoring came from Austin Copeland (Sophomore) 6 points; Josh Woody (Freshman) 4 points; Ray Brewster (Freshman) 3 points and Nathan Pucke (Sophomore) 1 point.

JV Squad Beats Loveland with Defense

The Knights JV team had one of their best defensive games of the season against the Loveland Tigers on Saturday.  Kings won the game with a final score of 37-32.  The Knights stole the ball from Loveland 10 times with 6 different players committing the thievery.  The final steal of the game came as the Tigers, facing a 3 point deficit, were setting up their offense to attempt to tie up the game with15 seconds remaining.  The Knights knew the Loveland threat was legitimate, as the Tiger’s 5’3″ freshman, Will Edison, had knocked down five 3 point shots throughout the game to keep Loveland within striking distance.  Josh Woody faced down #22 Austen Funke at mid-court and made his move, knocking the ball away and successfully diving for possession.  The Knights called time out with 10.1 seconds remaining and after being awarded technical foul shot opportunities, Max Lerer and the JV squad sealed the victory.

Knights Prevail Over Turpin Despite Shooting Woes at the Charity Stripe

The Knights defeated Turpin 44-40 on Friday night to sweep the season series, despite going 6 for 18 from the free throw line.  Austin Copeland (Sophomore) led the scoring attack for Kings with 12 points and a steal.  Max Lerer (Sophomore) contributed 11 points, with a steal and five rebounds.   Additional scoring came from Frank Fowler (Junior) 6 points; Matt James (Freshman) and Josh Woody (Freshman) with 4 points each; Ray Brewster (Freshman) 3 points; and two points each from Nathan Pucke (Sophomore) and Ryan Anthony (Sophomore).  The win gives the Junior Varsity Knights a 9-3 record in the FAVC, 10-4 overall.  Next up at home for Kings is a make-up game against the Loveland Tigers on Saturday.

Team Effort Leads to 48-20 Rout of the Wilmington Hurricanes

The Kings Men’s JV team beat the Wilmington Hurricanes at home Friday night by a
score of 48-20 to improve their FAVC record to 8-3 and 9-4 overall. Nine of
the twelve JV players scored against the ‘Canes. The scoring attack was led
once again by Max Lerer (Sophomore), who had 15 points. Nathan Pucke dropped in
9 points, with 2 rebounds. Josh Woody (Freshman) and Ryan Anthony (Sophomore)
each had 6 points. Frank Fowler (Junior) contributed 4 points. Jacob Himes
(Sophomore) came off the bench and had 4 rebounds, a blocked shot and a field
goal. Other scoring came from: Matt James (Freshman), Ray Brewster (Freshman)
and Kenny Parton (Junior). Next up, the Knights will meet the Little Miami
Panthers on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Little Miami H.S.

JV delivers solid win on Road at Lebanon behind Max Lerer’s leadership

The Men’s JV team got back on the winning side of the ledger with a 49-43 victory over the Lebanon Warriors Saturday night. The team was led by sophomore Max Lerer, who knocked down 18 points, including a cool 9 for 9 from the free throw line. Lerer’s nerves of steel at the charity stripe were key to the Knights win down the stretch in this closely contested game. Freshman Josh Woody also had a solid night on the court, contributing on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Woody collected 10 points and 4 assists on offense. While on defense Woody had 4 steals and 1 blocked shot. Matt James, the Knights Freshman big man, had 4 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and 3 points. Nathan Pucke, the 6’4″ sophomore had 3 rebounds, a blocked shot, a steal and 4 points on the evening. The Knights had (3) three point shots made in the game; 1 each contributed by Max Lerer, Ray Brewster (Freshman) and Ryan Anthony (Sophomore). Both Brewster and Anthony’s three point shots came at important junctures in the game to help squelch comeback threats being made by the Warriors. Next up (at home) for the Knights Friday evening are the Wilmington Hurricanes, who they beat on the road in the first contest.

JV finishes first round through FAVC East at 6-3

The Kings Men’s JV team is 6-3 in the FAVC with the first half of the season in the books and an overall record of 7-4. The JV team recorded FAVC league wins against Loveland, Wilmington, Little Miami, Harrison, Turpin and Anderson. The three league losses came against Walnut Hills, Milford and Glen Este. The second half of the season looks promising for the Knights as the young starting line-up has begun to mature and the bench depth continues to make solid contributions towards key league wins.

JV falls short vs. Glen Este

The King’s Knights Men’s JV Basketball team took a hard loss against the Glen Este Fighting Trojans Tuesday night. The final score of the game was Glen Este 54, Kings 39. Knights scoring was led by sophomore Max Lerer with 11 points and solid offensive production also from freshman Matt James (8 pts) and sophomore Austin Copeland (5 pts). Next up for King’s are the Loveland Tigers, who they beat on their court earlier in the season. Come out and cheer on the Knights Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., following the Men’s Freshman game!
