The JV Lady Knights escaped from Anderson with a 39 – 33 overtime win.   The Knights were down by 8 points a half and outscored the Redskins 17 – 7 in the 3rd quarter. Even though the Lady Knights didn’t play the best, they showed a lot of heart in the second half to pull out the victory.   The Knights were lead by Mac Seiter with 10 points and Ollie Demumbrum added 7 points in the victory.   The JV Knights are now 15 – 2 and take on Milford Wednesday night for the JV league title,  both teams currently have just 1 loss in the league.

On Weds, Feb 2, 2011, the JV Lady Knights improved their record to 14 – 2 with a  33 – 30 victory over Walnut Hills.

“If you look up “ugly win” in the dictionary it would describe our win over Walnut Hills,” said Head Coach Seymour.  “They say that good teams figure out  ways  to win even when they don’t play well and that is exactly what the JV team did, they figured it out! ”

The game was close throughout the game with the outcome not determined until the last possession.  Mac Seiter hit some big shots in the 4th quarter and led the Knights with 14 points. Ollie Demumbrum added 6 pts and PJ Osbourne added 5 points in the victory.  

Next up:   JV Lady Knights have a big week coming up with Anderson on Monday 2/7, then Milford and Glen Este to end the season.

JV UPDATES, Turpin and Mason

1/31/11 AT MASON

The JV Lady Knights traveled to Mason Monday night and pulled off a 33 – 29 victory over the Comets.  The Knights took control early and led 12-3 at the half. As good teams do,  the Comets fought back in the second half and got within 2 late in the game.  Laura Harsnett hit a huge 3 in the fourth quarter and Casey Murdoch got a big offensive rebound off a missed free throw in the last minute of the game.  Mac Seiter did a great job handling the Comet pressure late to seal the victory.   Ollie Demumbrum led the Knights with 9 points and Katie Adams returned after missing 5 games due to a thumb injury to add 6 points, including 4/4 from the line in the last 2 minutes. 1/29/11 AT TURPIN

The JV Lady Knights traveled to Turpin Saturday afternoon and defeated the Spartans 39 – 18.  This was the first JV victory at Turpin since 2007.  The Lady Knights were led by Riley Brashear who had 11 points and Katie Clark did a great job on the boards. In the last 3 games the JV team has given up 18,15 and 18 points.  Defense wins championships and the Lady Knights and starting to flex their defensive muscle.  The JV team is now 12-2 and have Mason and Walnut Hills coming this week.

On Weds Jan. 26th, the JV Lady Knights improved their record to 11 – 2 with a 38 – 15 victory over the visiting Waynesville Spartans.  The Knights put together another fine defensive effort holding Waynesville to only 15 points.  In their last two games the Lady Knights have only given up a total of 33 points. Great defense ladies!!!!!!! 

Madie Bauer and Mac Seiter led the team with 8 points each.  Katie Clark also added 6 points in the victory.

The JV Lady Knights improved their record to 9-2 with a victory over Loveland 46 -30.  Riley Brashear led the knights with 19 points and scored all 11 points in the 1st quarter.  The Knights were plagued with foul trouble the entire game from their starters. The Knights bench outscored Loveland’s bench 18 – 3.   The game was close most of the way but the Lady Knights pulled away by outscoring the Tigers 18 – 6 in the 4th quarter.  Laura Harsnett and Ollie Demumbrum added 5 points each; and Maddie Bauer and Skylar Beisel added 4 points in the victory.

The JV Lady Knights improved their record to 10 – 2 with a 29 to 18 victory over Wilmington.   The Lady Knights overcame a low scoring 3rd quarter to pull away in the 4th quarter. Mac Seiter led the team in scoring with 10 points and Ollie Demumbrum added 5 points in the victory.  Katie White controlled the boards in the second half to limit the Hurricanes scoring opportunities.  The JV teams looks to continue their winning ways on Wednesday against Waynesville.

Improving their overall record to 8-2,  the JV Lady Knights are now 6-1 in league play after a 47 – 39 victory over a tough Glen Este team.   It was a total team effort in the victory. The Knights were playing without 2 starters; Caity Adams was playing with an injured thumb and Maddie Bauer twisted her ankle during the game.   The Knights were led by freshmen Riley Brashear with 14 points and Mac Seiter with 12 points.  Katie Clark came off the bench and played her best game of the year with 8 points in the victory.  The Knights pulled away in the final minutes by hitting 13/19 free throws in the 4th quarter.   Mac Seiter hit 8 of 8 in the last 2 minutes to seal the victory.

The Knights travel to Loveland on Saturday to start their second round in the league play.

The Lady Knights went 1-1 this week to finish their record at 7-2

On Weds, Jan 5th, the Knights opened the week with a victory when they hosted the Anderson Redskins.  Anderson packed in a 2-3 zone and the Knights struggled with their outside shooting.   The Knights eventually pulled away with a 32 – 21 victory.  Caity Adams led the Knights with 13 points and Mac Seiter added 7 points.
 
On Saturday Jan 8, the Knights traveled to Milford.  The lady Knights showed a lot heart in a 42 -35 loss to Milford who only missed 12 shots in the entire game.   On two separate occasions the Knights fell behind by 8 points but they fought back both times.   They trailed 8 -0 in the first few minutes of the game but fought back the tie the game 15 – 15 at the half.  The fell behind in the 3rd quarter by 10 and fought back within 4 with a minute to go in the game but eventually lost by 7.   The Lady Knights were led  by Caity Adams again with 10 points,  Mac Seiter added 8 points and Laura Harsnett added 7 in the loss.
 
The Knights travel to Glen Este on Wednesday and Loveland on Saturday.

JV picks up two nice wins!

The JV Lady Knights went 2-0 over the last 2 weeks with victories over Turpin and Walnut Hills. The Knights started on the 15th with a victory over rival Turpin. The controlled the first half with their half court 1/3/1 trap and took a 28 to 12 lead into halftime. The Lady Knight cruised to a 44 – 20 victory over Turpin. The Knights were lead in scoring by Ollie Demumbrum (10), Mac Seiter (6) and Maddie Bauer (5), however 11 of the 12 players scored on the night, it was truly a team effort.

On the 18th , the Knights traveled for only the second time this year to Walnut Hills. The team overcame a shaky first half and cruised to a 36 – 19 victory. The Knights were led in scoring by Ollie Demumbrum and Maddie Bauer who led the team with 7 pts. Laura Harsnett also added 6 points in the victory. The JV Lady Knights and currently 6-0. The JV team is outscoring their opponents by an average of 21 points per game . Great Job girls!!!!

JV Lady Knights Improve to 4-0

The JV Lady Knights improved their record to 4-0 with a victory over Wilmington 56 – 29. The Knights balanced scoring was led by Haley Delaney with 11 points. Caity Adams added 9 points and Madison Bauer, Mac Seiter, and Laura Harsnett all contributed with 8 points. The Knights half court trap put the game out of reach in the 3rd quarter.
