Knights Turn Back Indians
The Kings Knight’s JV Boys Basketball Team opened their 2007-2008 season Saturday night at the “K-House” by hosting the Indians of Fairfield.
The Knights jumped out in front 11 - 6 in the first quarter and increased that lead to 24-11 as the teams retired to their locker rooms at half time. The Knights widened that margin to 39-22 at the end of the third quarter. Both teams netted 14 points in the final quarter and the Knights came away with an impressive opening game 53-36 victory.
Eleven Knights were in the scoring column, led by Tyler Smyth with 16 points including three three’s. Phil Fox tossed in 8 and Alec Sadowski netted 7. Brooks Gear contributed 6 while Andrew Winebrenner and Kevin Hopperton each scored 3. Michael Olds, Spencer Berlekamp, Brian Howell, Nick Shackelford and Matt Rumelhart each tossed in 2. The Knights were 5 for 8 from the free throw line (63%) while the Indians finished 4 for 7 (57%).
It will be a quick turnaround for the Knights (1-0) as an always tough
