After a very long break from the basketball season the Knights travelled to Nagel to open up the 2008 half of the season on January 7th and picked up  a 37-22 win.

The Knights headed into the locker room at halftime with a slim one point lead -  16-15.   After a somewhat sluggish first half, Coach Poggi’s “discussion” in the locker room must have been convincing.   Kings went on a 13-0 run in the third quarter to put the game away.

The  Knights were led by Justin Crull with 16 and Max Lerer with 10 points.   Evan Berg chipped in 5 and bodied up on defense shutting down Nagel Silver’s big man.   Solid full court and half court pressure was key to the win over FAVC Cardinal division rival Nagel Silver (Turpin).

The 7A Knights roll into the holiday break with a perfect 5-0 record.     The Knights handed Winton Woods their first lost of the season with an impressive come from behind win 40-31 in Overtime.      The Knights trailing by 6 at half time cut the lead to 2 near the end of the 3rd, but Winton Woods got off a 3 pointer at the buzzer to hold onto a 5 point lead after three quarters of play 17-22.    The Knights dominated the 4th quarter of play taking a 4 point lead, but Winton Woods battled back to tie the game 29-29 after regulation.     The Knights went 11 for 14 from the Free Throw line in OT while holding Winton Woods to 2 points to seal a 40-31 well deserved victory.     Max Lerer led the team in scoring with 14 points, Evan Berg contributed 9 and Justin Crull led the team in assists and rebounds.  Coach Poggi did a great job keeping the kids head focused on the work at hand, and everyone contributed big for an outstanding team victory!!!
